Companies in Category B are required to complete a Labour Market Benefits Plan that outlines the activities they will undertake to benefit the Canadian labour market.
To apply for the GTS, employers must meet the eligibility requirements, such as having a positive LMIA for the position they are seeking to fill and ensuring the position is on the Global Talent Occupations List. Employers must also provide documents that support their business legitimacy and their LMIA application, such as their most recent business license and CRA tax documents. Employers who hire foreign nationals through the GTS must develop a Labour Market Benefits Plan, which demonstrates their commitment to activities that will have lasting, positive impacts on the Canadian labour market.
As of April 2023, all LMIA applications for the Temporary Foreign Worker Program must be submitted online, including for the GTS. Employers can use the LMIA Online Portal to submit their applications and stay up-to-date with any new details and updates.
